CHEMICAL PEELS:
How does it work?
✨Reveal your glow with an AlumierMD chemical peel
-
Chemical peels cause small, controlled damage to the epidermis and/or dermis with the goal of stimulating new tissue to improve skin texture and tone.
Chemical peels work by decreasing the pH of the skin, this loosens the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth.
This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peel off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion.
At Nu-Clear we perform superficial-medium depth peels, for optimal results without the downtime.
-
Not all peels are created equal, and one peel type doesn’t suit all. Certain ingredients may be more effective for treating acne, while others may be more successful in treating hyperpigmentation or the signs of aging.

On the day of your treatment, you will be welcomed into our modern and clean treatment room..
We start with a thorough cleanse of the skin.
You will receive a supercharged LED therapy session to calm and heal the skin for optimal results.
After, we apply a prep solution to degrease the skin, followed by a chemical solution that is brushed onto your skin.
The solution will be left on your skin for a duration of 10-20 mins.
During this stage you may feel a minor tingling or warming sensation during your treatment. Some people temporarily experience a feeling of tightness after their treatment.
All of our chemical peels are finished off with premium medical-grade skincare products.
-
The skin is initially tender and more sun-sensitive as the epidermis renews itself.
Due to the nature of these treatments, you should not necessarily “peel”. However, you may have light to moderate flaking in a few localised areas for 3-7 days.
You may experience residual redness, which lasts in most patients from 1-12 hours post-treatment.
Most clients find they can return to their regular routines and even apply makeup to the area 24 hours after their peel.
-
For best results and to reduce the risk of complications (especially for deeper complexions), products used to prepare the skin may be required, to ensure the skin is in a good condition*
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks prior to treatment.
Avoid the use exfoliating agents such as retinoid products (e.g., Retinol, tretinoin, retinaldehyde) and high levels of AHA and BHA products for approximately 7 days prior to treatment.
Avoid use of photosensitizing medications (e.g., antibiotics, St John’s wort), you may be treated if your last dose was 7 days ago or more.
*Consult with your physician before temporarily discontinuing the use of any prescription medications.
Avoid waxing, threading or other form of hair removal on the area in 7 days prior to treatment
Avoid microdermabrasion, skin peels, micro-needling, laser or IPL 4 weeks prior to treatment
-
Due to the nature of these treatments, you should not necessarily “peel”. However, you may have light to moderate flaking in a few localised areas for 3-7 days.
It is recommended that you do not apply makeup the day of the treatment.
It is ideal to allow the skin to stabilise and rest overnight. However, makeup can be applied after 24 hours, if necessary.
On the night, your skin will feel tight and “pulled”. Although you may or may not actually “peel”, it is likely that you will experience a light “exfoliation”.
In order to obtain maximum results and avoid complication, please follow the post-peel instructions given to you on the day for 5-7 days at minimum.
-
Although you can appreciate more radiant skin with one peel, we suggest a series of at least 3-6 treatments, every 2-4 weeks for optimal results.
Your skin therapist will discuss with you the number of sessions that will be required to get you closer to your skin-care goals.
